I have hand-knotted this mala with polished Labradorite, Iolite, Kyanite, Selenite, Amethyst and Smoky Quartz beads. The “guru” pendant is a hand-carved Lemon Quartz Ganesh cabochon, set in sterling silver, by me. There is a Lotus stamping on the back of the pendant reminding you of your own growth and resilience. Traditionally malas are made with 108 beads as well as a center guru, which is represented here. The beads are all 8mm, so this mala can be worn long, or depending on its fit, doubled up around the neck. Here is a little bit about each stone:

• LEMON QUARTZ Hand-carved GANESH - Ganesh is known as the remover of obstacles, and here in yellow, can aid in removing imbalance or blockage most specifically in the Solar Plexus, which relates to our free will, our choices and personal power. What a centering piece! Yellow also relates to the Earth element in Chinese medicine. This color supports the “middle,” and the digestion of not only food, but digestion of thought as well.

• LABRADORITE - These Labradorite beads are something else. Mother nature outdid herself! Each and every bead has flash to it, whether one color or even the entire spectrum! This flash reflects negativity and protects our energetic field. Labradorite in general aids in connecting to our intuition and higher self.

• SELENITE - Clearing, clearing, clearing! Selenite is light captured in stone. As part of a Mala, they’ll always act as an energetic clean slate to your practice and to the other stones in the piece.

• KUNZITE - Sweet, sweet heart healing and soothing, Kunzite invites us to let go of fear in our hearts.

• AMETHYST - One of the greatest allies in beginning a new journey. Amethyst not only aids in connecting us with our intuition, it reminds us to drop habits that keep us stuck. It soothes and calms, so that we might have space to come up with a reason, answers and even remedies to our addictions.

• IOLITE - Ranging from deep violet to light lilac, Iolite is related to the Third Eye and encourages resourcefulness in difficult situations. It is known as the stone of inner treasures, which to me explains the connection to intuition, it asks us to dig deep and holds our hand while we explore. This Mala includes both smooth and faceted Iolite, which catches the light beautifully.

• SMOKY QUARTZ - The grounding stone that transforms negativity, rounds out and balances all of the upper Chakra energies. It is situated on the mala to lay at the neck, adding energetic stability when worn.

This mala is 40” and has a 2” pendant drop. Each bead is hand-knotted onto vegan cord, for added strength and longevity. As with all malas, they are meant to be practiced with, worn and enjoyed. The cord can eventually wear out, and the gemstones can be re-strung, or re-purposed. The pendant can then be worn on cord or chain. Enjoy! I loved creating this piece, as it was a meditation and connection to earth.
